Carl Hodson has been appointed as the new Managing Director (MD) for Ceteris Scotland Ltd and will start work at the beginning of April. Carl brings many years’ of experience of working in the private and third sector and the Ceteris team are eager to tap into it.
Early Life
Carl started early in the business world at only 13, when during school holidays, he would help out in his grandparent’s family business, working here started his passion for business and the development of his commercial mind. After leaving school in Shetland he joined the Royal Bank of Scotland as a junior and left as a Senior Commercial Manager after about 20 years.
Not for Profit Experience
Then the not for profit social impact bug hit him and he joined Aberdeen based social enterprise Glencraft as General Manager and Executive Director, here he was responsible for the commercial strategy managing to grow the business considerably and relocate the organisation to new fit for purpose premises, quite an achievement.
Award Winning
In 2013, Carl (with the support of his team at Glencraft) was presented with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in both the Scottish and UK wide social enterprise categories. Then in 2014, his leadership led the Glencraft Team to 4 regional Trades Awards: including Best Regional Business & The Northern Star Award for Business Diversity.
In more recent years Carl was CEO for the Fife visual impairment charity seescape, developing and implementing strategies to achieve sustainability and efficiency. As well as expanding the services of Scotland’s only charity optician.
