What is the Emerge Women SkillShare?
Who can join?
Membership is open to:
- Female-led, female-founded, or female-run businesses.
- Entrepreneurs, freelancers, and professionals who are committed to
collaboration and upholding the initiative’s principles of reciprocity, trust,
accessibility, value creation, and sustainability.
How does the token system work?
As a buyer
You have 7 tokens annually to spend on accessing the skills of others in the group.
As a supplier
You contribute 7 tokens annually of your own time, offering to share your skills with fellow members.
In both cases each token is worth 30 minutes. Together, this creates a fair and supportive exchange where everyone has the chance to give and gain.
How do I offer or request a skill?
1. Offer a Skill – List your expertise via the Membership Profile Form.
2. Request a Skill – A platform is in development but, in the meantime, please email info@ceteris.co.uk with details of the skill you would like to ‘buy’.
3. Matchmaking – The Ceteris team will help connect you with the right member.
4. Exchange – Agree a time, scope, and format.
5. Feedback – Provide constructive feedback to maintain trust and quality.
What kinds of skills can be shared?
Almost any professional expertise can be shared, including but not limited to:
- Marketing, branding, web design, digital tools, and PR
- Finance and cashflow planning
- Strategy and business development
- HR, leadership, and team development
- Legal, compliance, or governance guidance
How is trust and professionalism ensured?
- All exchanges are documented within the platform.
- Confidentiality is protected (Chatham House rules apply).
- A clear Code of Conduct prohibits harassment, exploitation, or misuse.
- The Emerge support team is available to mediate disputes.
What are the benefits of joining?

What happens if all or most members are drawn from the one sector?
From the applications we have received so far, we don’t anticipate this being an issue. However, if it did, then members from similar sectors may have complementary specialisms and potentially be able to cross-refer to each other.
What happens if I run out of tokens?
Your membership is annual, so you will get 7 tokens to spend each year. As long as you renew, you will receive extra tokens each year.
Throughout the year, there will also be opportunities to earn more tokens by offering something to the group, for example, to run a course or event. And you will get the tokens that anyone spends with you in exchange for your time. So hopefully you won’t run out!
Any unspent tokens will rollover to the next year.
If I am new to business and don’t feel I have much to contribute to the group, what should I do?
Even if you are new to business, the chances are you have skills and experience that will be of value to your fellow entrepreneurs. For example, you might have IT skills or real-world expertise using online platforms that others in the group will find of value.Remember, members don’t need to use their tokens with you for you to use your tokens with other members of Emerge Women SkillShare.
What happens if there’s a dispute?
If concerns arise, members can raise them with the Ceteris support team. The team will mediate where possible to ensure fair and professional resolution.
How is membership paid?
Emerge Women SkillShare is run and managed by Ceteris (Scotland) Ltd). Membership fees are paid to Ceteris (Scotland) Ltd securely via Stripe. Stripe also manages any optional payments for premium services or structured training events. No direct payments are required for skills exchanged within the initiative.
Can I upgrade my membership?
Yes. Premium membership options may be offered, providing access to structured events, or additional support. Details will be shared as new options become available.
How will the initiative evolve?
Emerge Women SkillShare is committed to continuous improvement. Regular reviews and member feedback will shape future features, services, and community guidelines to ensure Emerge Women SkillShare remains relevant, valuable, and effective.
