Celebrating 40 Years of Ceteris!

This year, we’re celebrating 40 years of Ceteris! As Scotland’s largest commercial landlord with a social purpose, we have hit a major milestone – 40 years of championing business growth across Central Scotland.

Since we started trading in 1985, Ceteris has played a pivotal role in the region’s economic prosperity, offering high-quality commercial space and reinvesting its profits to provide a wrap-around business support service coupled with a commitment to sustainability.

To mark this achievement, we held a special event at the Scottish Parliament on 14 January 2025, attended by 90 leaders from the public, private, and third sectors. Hosted by Keith Brown MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane, a former Ceteris board member and current Ceteris tenant, the event also welcomed CEOs, directors and senior leaders from across the public, private and third sectors.

Contributors on the day included Clackmannanshire Council Leader Ellen Forson, Falkirk Council CEO Kenneth Lawrie, Ross Martin, Regional Economies Advisor for the Scottish Government, Forth Green Freeport CEO Sarah Murray, Forth Valley College Principal Kenny MacInnes Principal, Prosper CEO Sara Thiam, Carolyn Currie, CEO of Women in Enterprise, Scottish Enterprise Director Dinker Bhardwaj and numerous Ceteris tenants who shared their inspiring business journeys.

Discussions at the event highlighted key themes, including:

  • The need for education and industry collaboration to address skill gaps.
  • Learning ‘big lessons from small places’.
  • The power of partnerships in driving sustainable growth and innovation.
  • The collective role of all sectors in delivering transformational change with social, environmental, and economic benefits.

Keith Brown MSP said: “Having previously served as a Ceteris board member, I have seen first-hand the organisation’s impact on local businesses. Ceteris has been instrumental in fostering economic growth and innovation in Central Scotland. Their support for businesses—large and small—has made a tangible difference, and I’m proud to celebrate this milestone with them.”

Since 2015, Ceteris Scotland’s work has resulted in the creation of 636 Full Time Equivalent jobs and £390m of Gross Value Add for the Scottish economy.

Josie Saunders, Chief Executive of Ceteris, added: “Reaching 40 years is a testament to the strength of our business community, the dedication of our team, and the deep-rooted partnerships we have built.

“We are committed to thinking differently, being bold and innovative in order to drive sustainable, inclusive growth for years to come.”

Looking ahead, Ceteris plans to expand and diversify its operations, including the development of Ceteris Storage Village in Clackmannanshire, world-class online training and other products which help businesses become more competitive, and continued investment in sustainable business practices.

To celebrate its history, Ceteris has launched a history page showcasing key milestones in Ceteris and Clackmannanshire and a new video —Celebrating Ceteris at 40. A social media ‘glow up’ campaign will also highlight business transformations over the past four decades, while tenants can look forward to a series of fun events throughout the year.
